Rolex serial numbers by year of production
Messina Jewelers is presenting this chart to make easier the searching of a Rolex year. With this chart our customers can find the year of the Rolex watch they have bought or they already owned, by the serial number. This would also make the searching easier for the watch sellers.
The serial number of a Rolex watch can be found engraved between the lugs of the lower part of the case by releasing the bracelet. This engrave is done with very fine lines which catch the light like a cut of a diamond edge.

I bought a Oyster Perpetual new in the Army/Air Force Exchange (U-Tapao, Thailand) in 1967. It does not have the date. The band I have been told is a European model as it tapers on both side of the clasp. How rare is that? Not looking to sell it it has been a friend too long. Just curious as I can’t seem to find a like watch to compare comps. I also still have the “Swiss Certification”, when did the stop that?

It is a nice vintage Rolex Oyster Perpetual Model you got there. The band is the Rolex Oyster Light model. Vintage models had that kind of bracelet compared to the newer style heavy bracelet. We have a similar watch in our website, it is a two tone . There are two types of oyster light bracelets , one is like ours the pins on the side and the other without the pins. Here is the link of our watch http://www.messinajewelers.com/rolex-oyster-perpetual-1038-used-p-1370.html

Hi it does not mean it is a fake ,924 means 1986 it starts with that number. Yours would fit in the circa 1985 because it is 924.
