16000 is a Datejust Men's model Quick-set. We can help you with the dial and hands and even install it for you. The watch is from 1984. Please send us an email to sales@messinajewelers.com and someone will help you out.

Have a 16000 case - if i wanted to swap dials and hands, what would be the size dial required? I searched for datejust dials and came up with a wide array but different sizes. It's confusing. Can't really determine which dial will fit. Is this a midsize? Serial # is 8385XXX.....is that an 80's?

Thanks

Hi the difference is really in size. The datejust is a little bigger. The datejust model 16000 quick-set model was earlier introduced than the quick-set Date model 15000 but both date and datejust have quick-set models. The 15000 was introduced a few years later by mid 1970's. Just remember the model 1500 is the one you have , which is a non-quick model. The model 15000 is quick-set . The quick-set model with sapphire crystal started with model number with reference 15200. Let us know if you have other questions.

I own a ROLEX DATE. The DATEJUST was more expensive and beyond my budget at the time (1972). I recall being told that the difference is in adjusting the date. The Datejust can change the date by pulling the crown 1/2 way out (similar to my Submariner)and causing the date dial to move. The date on the DATE has to be changed by advancing the minute and hour hands all the way around 24 hours to change.
Since I have a DATE and this is the way I have to change the date, please advise if the DATEJUST can change the date similar to the Submariner's system.
